Ky Derby Results And Payouts

In the 1992 Kentucky Derby, 18 horses ran, but there were only 11 betting choices in the race. That is because many of the horses were coupled as betting interests, meaning they ran under the same number. If you bet coupled horses, if any one of them wins, for betting purposes, all of them win.

In recent times, almost all horses run uncoupled in the Kentucky Derby, meaning they each have their own number and all money bet on each horse counts only towards that horse. If that had been the case in the 1992 Kentucky Derby, when Arazi was the heavy betting favorite, the Lil E. Tee and Casual Lies exacta could have paid considerably more money.
